Viaduc de la Sioule, Concrete bridge in Bromont-Lamothe, France
The Sioule Viaduct is a concrete bridge that spans the river valley and serves as a major transportation route. The structure crosses the valley over a span of around 990 meters while rising approximately 135 meters above the riverbed.
Construction of this concrete bridge began in 2003 and was completed two years later. The project represented a significant step in modernizing transportation infrastructure across central France.
The viaduct connects communities separated by the river valley and enables the flow of people and goods between regions that would otherwise be distant from each other. It represents the practical infrastructure that shapes modern life in central France.
The structure is designated for traffic on the A89-E70 motorway and can be crossed as part of normal driving routes. The best views are available from nearby rest areas and scenic pullouts along the highway.
The structure was built with around 6,300 tons of concrete and required seven supporting pillars and two abutments for its framework. This engineering solution made it possible to create a stable crossing over the river valley.
