Dworek im. Fryderyka Chopina, Manor house in Duszniki-Zdrój, Poland
Dworek im. Fryderyka Chopina is a small historic manor house built in the early 19th century, set within the Zdrojowy Park in Duszniki-Zdrój, a spa town in the Kłodzko Valley in Poland. The building has a plain, traditional design and sits surrounded by green paths and open park space.
The building was originally constructed in 1802 as a theater designed by royal architect Geissler, as part of the spa resort complex. In August 1826, the young Fryderyk Chopin gave a charity concert here, an event that later gave the building its current name.
The manor is best known today as the home of the International Chopin Piano Festival, the oldest continuous music event of its kind in the world. Every summer, the park fills with piano music, and concerts often take place outdoors, letting visitors enjoy performances in a natural setting.
The manor sits in the middle of the Zdrojowy Park and is easy to reach on foot from most hotels and guesthouses in Duszniki-Zdrój. A visit pairs well with a walk through the park and the nearby town center.
In the park around the manor stand two monuments honoring Chopin: a boulder with a bronze medallion dating from the late 19th century and a sculpture unveiled in 1976 for the 150th anniversary of his visit. The medallion carries a Latin inscription recording Chopin's stay in Duszniki in 1826.
