Plage du Fort Carré

Plage du Fort Carré is a public shingle beach curving along the coast next to the historic fort that shares its name. The beach transitions gradually from pebbles to sand, creating varied swimming and walking surfaces typical of this part of the French Riviera.

This beach developed as a natural extension of the military fortress beside it, which guarded Antibes' harbor from the 1500s onward. Over time, the bay became an integral part of the region's coastal defense system.

The beach draws together swimmers, sunbathers, and fishing families who share the waterfront throughout the day. This daily blend of leisure and work creates a lived-in character that reflects the coast's continuing connection to the sea.

The beach provides free parking along the waterfront and fresh water showers for rinsing off. Summer brings seasonal food kiosks, though bringing your own towel and water shoes helps with the pebbly surface.

The beach's shallow slope creates noticeably strong waves during windier weather, drawing people who practice water sports year-round. Winter months in particular bring regular activity from surfers and windsurfers riding these natural swells.
