Волшебная пещера Левона, Underground museum in Arinj, Armenia.
Levon's Wonder Cave is an underground museum in Arinj consisting of seven interconnected rooms linked by passages and staircases. Handcrafted decorative elements adorn the walls and structures throughout the system.
One man started in 1985 using only simple hand tools to transform an old potato cellar into an underground complex. About two decades later the work was finished, creating a space that visitors can explore today.
The place displays artistic handwork created without formal training, reflecting personal creativity carved directly into stone. Visitors can experience the crafted details throughout the rooms and understand how one person turned a vision into reality.
A visit requires a short trip from Yerevan and time to explore the underground rooms and passages at a slow pace. Plan adequate time to look closely at the walls and details, as the staircases are tight.
Despite being deep underground, the temperature stays mild and constant throughout the year regardless of seasons above. The outdoor garden is lined with stones discovered during the digging work.
