Centro Ana Frank Argentina, Holocaust museum in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Centro Ana Frank Argentina is a museum in Buenos Aires housing an exact replica of the hideout where Anne Frank and seven others sheltered during World War II. Visitors walk through the rebuilt rooms to understand the cramped conditions they endured.
The institution opened on June 12, 2009, the date that would have been Anne Frank's 80th birthday, with backing from the Anne Frank House. This founding was a key moment in establishing a space for remembering resistance to persecution in Latin America.
Volunteer guides connect the exhibitions to Argentina's history of oppression and present-day human rights concerns. The displays show how these topics remain alive in local memory and public conversation.
The museum offers guided tours of about 90 minutes for groups and individuals, with specialized programs for school classes from fifth grade onwards. Plan enough time for the visit and approach the exhibition with an open mind, as the content can be emotionally challenging.
This is the only museum in Latin America featuring a complete reconstruction of the hideout where Anne Frank wrote her famous diary. The replica allows visitors from the region to experience this important historical site without traveling to Europe.
