El Trust Joyero Relojero building, Eclectic style building on Corrientes Avenue, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
El Trust Joyero Relojero is an eclectic 11-story building located at the intersection of Corrientes Avenue and 9 de Julio Avenue in central Buenos Aires. The lower levels house commercial spaces with storefronts, while the upper floors contain office areas that continue its mixed-use function.
Constructed in 1925 by Juan Peire, it originally housed Argentina's largest jewelry and watch store, which operated successfully for more than six decades. This lengthy commercial operation established it as a landmark in the city's development.
The corner location near the Obelisk made this structure a natural gathering place where people came together to watch significant events unfold. Its position in the heart of the city transformed it into a social hub that marked the rhythm of daily life.
The building sits at a busy intersection, making it easy to reach on foot but with traffic noise to expect during peak hours. The best time to photograph it is early morning when traffic is lighter and natural light is more favorable.
During construction, workers discovered a chest filled with colonial-era gold and silver coins, which were later donated to the National Historical Museum. This unexpected discovery connects the modern structure to the city's much earlier past.
