Les Ombres
Les Ombres is a restaurant and bar perched on the rooftop of Musée du quai Branly with glass panels providing views of the Eiffel Tower from every table. The space is designed as an open structure that connects the interior with the surrounding environment.
Architect Jean Nouvel designed this glass structure as part of the museum, integrating shadow patterns and light effects into the design. The structure follows the museum's architectural concept and its interaction with natural light.
The restaurant blends French cooking techniques with Mediterranean influences using seasonal ingredients in thoughtfully designed menus. Diners experience a kitchen that brings together local products with international flavors.
The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner service and is located at 27 quai Jacques Chirac in the 7th arrondissement. Making a reservation ahead of time is recommended to secure a table, especially during peak hours.
During evening service, the ceiling projects a starlit display every hour that transforms the setting at each full hour. During daytime, the glass structure creates soft shadow patterns across the tables that shift throughout the day.
