Le Segustero, Restaurant in Sisteron, France
Le Segustero is a restaurant in Sisteron, France, set inside a renovated farmhouse with a vaulted dining room and a landscaped courtyard. The menu features fresh, homemade dishes that change with the seasons, served in a bistro chic setting.
The building was a working farm from the late 1800s until the mid-1900s, when it was used for storing agricultural equipment. It was bought by the local community in 2014 and, after 14 months of renovation, opened as a restaurant in 2015.
The name Segustero comes from the ancient name of Sisteron, a nod to the town's past. In the warmer months, the courtyard hosts concerts and temporary exhibitions, making it a gathering spot for locals and visitors alike.
The restaurant is on the ground floor with step-free access, and the courtyard offers shaded seating under two large plane trees. It is best to book ahead, especially for dinner or weekends, as the dining room and terrace can fill up quickly.
The restaurant's vaulted dining room was once a sheepfold, and the kitchen now occupies what was the family's apartment. Outside, two mulberry trees are reminders of a former silkworm farm under the roof.
