El Mirador de Galarza, Restaurant in Cáceres, Spain
El Mirador de Galarza is a restaurant in the center of Cáceres, Spain, set close to the Obispo Galarza parking lot and accessible either from there or from a path on the upper side. Inside, the space has several areas for events, including the Sala San Jorge, and the kitchen uses a charcoal grill and a wood oven.
The restaurant opened in 2006, founded by a family with a focus on regional meats from Extremadura and traditional fire cooking. Over time it grew into a regular gathering place for locals marking celebrations and family events.
The terrace looks directly onto the old city walls of Cáceres, so guests eat with centuries of stone architecture in front of them. The restaurant also has a playground nearby, which makes it a common spot for families on weekends.
Booking in advance is a good idea, especially on weekends and public holidays when the place fills up quickly. For a table on the terrace with the best view of the old city, arriving early makes a difference.
The iberico pigs used here eat a diet based mainly on acorns, which gives the fat in the meat a high level of oleic acid, similar to what you find in olive oil. The cured meats from these animals go through a process of at least 40 months before they are ready to serve.
