Ermita de la Paz, Hermitage church in Plaza Mayor, Cáceres, Spain.
The Ermita de la Paz features three semicircular arches supported by stone pillars and contains a vault with Mudejar paintings and a Baroque altarpiece.
The structure, completed in 1750, replaced a Renaissance chapel dedicated to Saint Benedict and was built at the request of the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Peace.
The daily mass tradition necessitated this church's construction as the existing plaza porticos could no longer accommodate the growing number of Catholic worshippers.
The hermitage opens exclusively during mass times, with services held at 8:00 PM during winter and 9:00 PM during summer on religious holidays.
The entrance features an artistic iron gate created by Juan de Acedo in 1756, displaying the monograms IHS and MAR representing Christ and Virgin Mary.
