Platja de la Ribera

Platja de la Ribera is a sand beach along the Mediterranean coast in Sitges, stretching about 630 meters with a width of roughly 40 meters from shore to water. The fine golden sand forms a wide, even expanse suitable for swimming and sunbathing.

This central beach was part of a small fishing community in the early 1900s before the town transformed into a popular resort destination during the 1960s. The shift from a quiet harbor village to a lively beach town reshaped Sitges' modern identity.

The beach becomes a gathering place during the Sitges Film Festival in October, when cinema fans congregate near the water to socialize between screenings. This seasonal tradition blends the town's film culture with its seaside character.

The beach has free public showers and restrooms available along the sand, and sunbeds and umbrellas can be rented for shade and comfort. These facilities make it easy to spend extended time here and stay refreshed after swimming.

The water remains pleasantly warm from June through September, making it suitable for swimming during much of the summer and early autumn. This extended bathing season sets it apart from nearby beaches with shorter swim periods.
