Plage d'Imsouane

Plage d'Imsouane is a crescent-shaped sandy beach on the Atlantic coast with golden sand and clear blue waters framed by tall cliffs and mountains. The bay curves naturally to create waves of unusual length and power.

The fishing village of Imsouane developed its beach infrastructure in recent decades after international surfers discovered its exceptional wave conditions. This growth has introduced the place to visitors and water sports enthusiasts worldwide.

Local fishing communities still work here using traditional wooden boats and sell their catch directly to buyers at the water's edge. This fishing activity shapes daily life in the village and gives the beach its working character.

The beach offers optimal surfing conditions between September and April, with schools providing equipment rentals and lessons for all skill levels. Conditions are significantly weaker outside these months.

The bay produces Africa's longest wave, which can extend up to 800 meters and allows surfers to ride continuously for several minutes. This rare phenomenon makes the beach a special destination for experienced surfers worldwide.
