Itzurun hondartza, Sandy beach in Zumaia, Spain
Located on the northern coast of Spain, Itzurun Beach features golden sand stretching for 620 meters alongside limestone cliffs displaying distinct geological formations.
The beach forms part of the Basque Coast Geopark, which received UNESCO recognition in 2009 for its extraordinary flysch rock formations dating back 60 million years.
The neighboring Basque community maintains strong maritime traditions, with local fishermen still practicing traditional fishing methods passed down through generations.
Access to the beach requires descending 200 steps from the town center, with lifeguard services operating between June and September from 11:00 to 19:00.
The distinctive flysch rock formations at Itzurun Beach served as a filming location for the seventh season of Game of Thrones television series.
