Anse du Petit Bas-Vent, Caribbean bay and sandy beach in Deshaies, Guadeloupe

Anse du Petit Bas-Vent is a Caribbean bay with soft sand and shallow water in Deshaies, Guadeloupe. The shoreline curves gently and is backed by palm trees, while coral reefs sit just offshore and help keep the water calm.

This bay served as a lookout point for ships traveling through Caribbean waters in the 17th and 18th centuries. Merchant vessels used these waters as a sheltered stop during voyages between islands.

Local fishermen maintain traditional Guadeloupean fishing methods using fish traps and nets from this cove.

The beach has basic facilities including showers and restrooms near the water. A pathway connects the nearby parking area to the sand, making arrival straightforward.

The clear water makes it possible to spot colorful parrotfish and red starfish on the nearby reefs. These sea creatures are visible within just a few meters of the shoreline.
