The Handsome Guy

The Handsome Guy is an aluminum sculpture depicting a well-dressed man in tailcoat and top hat standing on the Main Square in Bratislava. The figure strikes a greeting pose with his hat slightly raised, marking a focal point in the Old Town.

Sculptor Juraj Meliš created this work in 1997 as a tribute to a well-known figure from early 20th-century Bratislava. The sculpture preserves the memory of this distinctive character who touched the lives of generations of residents.

This statue represents a man who maintained formal dress and greeted others warmly despite facing hardship. His image reminds visitors how dignity and kindness can show through simple daily interactions.

The statue stands on the Main Square near popular cafes and is easily accessible when exploring the Old Town center. It makes a natural meeting point if you need to orient yourself in the area.
