Old Town Hall, Medieval town hall in Old Town Bratislava, Slovakia
The Old Town Hall is a Gothic building in central Bratislava featuring a distinctive tower and white façade decorated with colorful mosaics. The roof is covered with blue and gold tiles, and the structure sits in the heart of the Old Town near the main squares.
Built as a private residence in 1370, the building became the town hall in 1434 when the municipality purchased it through two transactions. Over time it was modified and expanded to meet the changing needs of city administration.
The building houses a museum where collections of artifacts and documents tell the story of how Bratislava grew and changed through time. Visitors can explore what daily life and society were like in different periods of the city's past.
The building is located between the Main Square and Primate's Square in the heart of the Old Town. Visitors should be aware that as a historic structure, some areas may have narrow stairs or uneven floors.
A cannonball from Napoleon's forces remains embedded in the courtyard wall, serving as a physical reminder of the French siege that affected the city. This projectile is one of the few visible traces of military conflict preserved on the building.

Bratislava reveals itself through its architecture that combines Gothic, Baroque, and Art Nouveau influences. The Slovak capital is centered around its medieval old town with cobblestone streets, dominated by Bratislava Castle and its recognizable outline with four corner towers. Visitors can explore St. Martin's Cathedral, the site of Hungarian royal coronations for several centuries, or the Blue Church, a 1913 Art Nouveau building fully decorated with blue and white mosaics. The city also features unexpected sites such as the Čumil statue, a bronze figure of a worker emerging from a manhole cover, and the UFO observation deck perched 95 meters above the top of the SNP Bridge. The surrounding area is worth visiting for Devín Castle, a medieval fortress built on a rocky promontory at the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers, and the Slavín memorial that overlooks the city from a hill. This collection gathers Bratislava's main monuments and museums to facilitate your exploration of the Slovak capital.
