Pantai Selong Belanak is a beach on the western coast of Lombok, framed by green hills and open to a wide bay with pale sand and shallow water. The shoreline follows a curved shape that shelters the water inside, keeping it relatively gentle even when the sea outside the bay is rougher.
Until the early 2000s, Selong Belanak was a remote fishing settlement with little outside contact. Local fishermen started teaching visiting surfers, and that shift slowly turned the area into a place known beyond the island.
