Mawun Beach

Mawun Beach is a horseshoe-shaped beach in Central Lombok surrounded by hills on both sides. The shoreline features fine white sand, and the water transitions from calm in sheltered areas to more energetic conditions depending on wind and tides.

For generations this was a fishing area where local communities made their living from the sea. International visitors began discovering it later, transforming it into a known destination while maintaining its natural character.

The Sasak people of Lombok maintain strong connections to Mawun Beach through traditional fishing practices and community gatherings throughout the year.

Limited facilities mean you should bring water and food for your visit. Plan your swim timing around calm conditions, as the water can become rough when the tide is strong.

Tall cliffs frame both sides of this beach, creating dramatic views especially as the sun sets. This natural enclosure makes the location particularly striking from the sand.
