Little Garie Beach

Little Garie Beach is a sand beach on the New South Wales coast that stretches about 100 meters (330 feet) and features both sand and cobblestones along its shore. Steep cliffs frame this coastal spot and create a dramatic backdrop.

The Surf Life Saving Club opened a beachhouse in the southern valley during 1938, marking the beginning of organized use at this location. This establishment helped shape the area into a managed coastal destination.

The name Garie comes from a Dharawal Aboriginal word meaning sleepy, showing the link between indigenous heritage and this coastal place. This naming connection remains part of how locals and visitors understand the area today.

This beach has no lifeguard on duty, and swimmers should watch for strong rip currents near the northern rocks along the shoreline. Wave heights average around 1.5 meters (5 feet), so it is best suited for experienced swimmers.

This beach sits where four small valleys meet at the ocean, creating an unusual coastal formation. The northernmost valley provides natural shelter from strong ocean winds and harsh wave conditions.
