Shelly Beach

Shelly Beach is a west-facing coastal area within Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve, offering white sand and clear water suitable for swimming and snorkeling.

Aboriginal populations left evidence of their presence through a shell midden near Fairy Bower car park, which influenced the naming of the beach.

The beach appears in the opening scene of the 1983 film BMX Bandits, establishing its connection to Australian cinema and outdoor recreation.

The beach provides free electric barbecues, showers, toilets, and The Boathouse cafe, with parking available at an hourly rate of 8 dollars.

Marine life thrives in the shallow waters up to 12 meters deep, where visitors can observe numerous fish species in the protected aquatic reserve.
