Sandown Street Beach

Sandown Street Beach stretches along the Melbourne coastline, featuring a fenced sandy area protected by a breakwater and rock groynes at its northern end.

The construction of Middle Brighton pier and breakwater transformed this coastal section, causing the shoreline to extend up to 100 meters in specific areas.

This designated off-leash beach forms an essential part of Brighton's community spaces, where local residents regularly gather with their dogs for social interactions.

Visitors can access the beach from 7 Sandown Street, with paid parking available near Middle Brighton Baths from 8 AM to 8 PM daily.

The beach combines a triangular sand formation with distinct characteristics on each side: seaweed accumulates on the east-facing shore while the western section remains clearer.
