Grands Sables

Grands Sables is a sand beach on Groix Island with fine white sand meeting the turquoise Atlantic waters. The beach stretches along the coast and offers a wide area for swimming and relaxing by the water.

The beach was fortified during past military operations, and the remains of these defenses are still visible today. Two entrances to these historical structures can be seen at the La Ferrière section.

The beach has a supervised swimming area during summer months and equipment rentals for water activities are available near the shore. Visitors should check tide conditions as they affect accessibility and the best times for swimming.

The beach has a rare convex shape that constantly changes and can shift significantly in a short time. This movement of the shoreline is a natural phenomenon that makes this location unique in Europe.
