Plage de Port Andro

Plage de Port Andro is a sandy beach in Locmaria with pale yellow sand that extends along the shoreline and naturally divides into two sections depending on the tide level. The water is clear and suitable for swimming throughout most conditions.

This coastal area once held military fortifications built under Vauban's strategic design in the 17th century to defend against English and Dutch attacks. The fortifications shaped how the shoreline developed and are still visible in the landscape today.

The beach is divided into areas suited for different activities, with the right section popular for sports and recreation while the left side offers a quieter cove setting. Visitors can see how people naturally choose their preferred zones based on what they want to do.

Two parking areas connect directly to the coastal road for convenient access to the site. Showers, toilets, and wheelchair-accessible paths lead down to the beach and make planning your visit easier.

During low tide the beach surface expands noticeably and exposes natural rocky pools that fill with water and create small ecosystems. These temporary pools appear only at certain times and attract curious visitors exploring the tidal zone.
