Big Banana Beach

Big Banana Beach is a sand beach on Skiathos with a curved bay that stretches along the western coast of the island. Pine forests and olive groves grow right up to the edge of the sand.

The beach kept its natural shape since ancient times, when sailors used the Sporades islands as landmarks to navigate the Aegean. The curved bay helped people recognize the island from far away.

The tavernas along the shore serve food made with ingredients from local farms and fishing boats. You can taste how islanders eat when you visit these places.

The beach has a rental shop for water sports gear, sun loungers, and umbrellas, plus a bar serving drinks and snacks. The best time to visit is from May to October when the weather stays warm and clear.

A natural rock divides the main beach from Little Banana Beach, creating two separate coves you can walk between. This split happened by chance from wind and waves over thousands of years.
