La Marina di Cala Feola

La Marina di Cala Feola is a small bay on Ponza where fishing boats rest in sheltered waters, with both sandy and rocky beaches stretching between steep limestone cliffs. The shoreline is framed by dense vegetation climbing the rock faces above.

The site contains ancient rock-cut dwellings and traditional stone buildings with dome-shaped roofs dating back several hundred years. These structures indicate that the bay has served as a settlement and harbor for the island community for a very long time.

Fishermen from the island continue to moor their boats here as they have for generations, reflecting how deeply the local community depends on the sea. This working waterfront remains a living part of daily life rather than a forgotten tradition.

Reaching the beach means descending roughly 200 steps from the parking area, so wear comfortable shoes and take your time. During summer, you can rent umbrellas, chairs, and boats if you want to spend more time on or around the water.

Below the water's surface lie natural underwater caves carved into the rock, which divers and snorkelers can explore on calm days. These hidden chambers beneath the cliff walls are what draw many visitors to return to the bay again and again.
