Praia do Marreco

Praia do Marreco is an Atlantic beach with golden sand and natural rock outcrops running along the water's edge. The shoreline curves inward in places, creating smaller coves that offer shelter and varied swimming areas throughout the beach.

The beach became connected to fishing communities that settled in the Lavra region during the 18th century. It remained an important landing place for fishing boats and coastal workers throughout the following centuries.

Local fishermen continue their traditional practices at Praia do Marreco, setting their nets during early morning hours according to Portuguese coastal customs.

The beach can be reached via Avenida Dom Pedro V and Rua do Marreco, which provide direct access to the shore. Swimming conditions are monitored during summer months, making these the best times for a safe visit.

A rocky islet sits roughly 200 meters offshore and creates distinctive wave patterns that shift with the seasons. This formation shapes the water conditions and supports a special marine environment around the beach.
