Praia do Paraíso

Praia do Paraíso is a sand beach along the Atlantic coast with fine sand and rocky outcrops that rise from the shoreline. A small river called Ribeira de Joane flows north into the ocean here.

The beach earned water quality certifications starting in 2006 based on environmental management practices. These awards reflect ongoing care for the natural conditions here.

Local people come here to escape busier beaches in the region, using the space in their own way throughout the year. The place has a neighborhood feel rather than a tourist atmosphere.

The beach has monitored swimming areas where lifeguards work during the warmer season. You can reach it easily from the surrounding streets in this residential neighborhood.

Tidal pools form in the rocks here, creating small windows into ocean life during low tide. These natural features are easy to miss but worth exploring.
