Praia dos Três Irmãos

Praia dos Três Irmãos stretches along the eastern end of Alvor beach, featuring remarkable limestone formations and multiple protected coves with golden sand. The distinct rock structures create a varied coastline where calm swimming areas form between the stones.

The beach received its name from three distinct sea stacks that Portuguese sailors in past centuries used as navigation markers along the Algarve coast. These features helped early sailors determine their position along this well-traveled passage.

Local fishermen continue their traditional practices near the beach, bringing fresh catches directly to the beachfront restaurants that prepare regional seafood specialties.

The beach maintains seasonal lifeguard services and provides wheelchair access, restrooms, sun loungers, and parking facilities nearby. These amenities make for a pleasant beach day across different visitor needs, especially during warmer months.

Between the main rock formations, several natural tunnels and caves emerge during low tide, forming temporary pools with seawater. These shallow lagoons offer chances to observe marine life up close when the tides recede.
