Playa de El Palmar
Playa de El Palmar is a sand beach on the Atlantic coast with about 3300 meters of fine sand and clear water near Vejer de la Frontera. The strand runs as a wide open expanse without major rocks or obstacles, offering unobstructed access to the sea.
The area retained its natural character as tourism began developing in the Cadiz region during the 1960s. While other coastal sections became more built up, this beach remained largely unchanged in its original form.
The beach holds deep roots in the local fishing tradition, with restaurants serving fresh seafood prepared in regional ways. This connection to the sea shapes daily life in the area and the work of people who depend on these waters.
The beach offers wheelchair access, public restrooms, and rescue teams on duty during the swimming season. It is wise to arrive in early morning hours to find the best conditions and avoid crowds.
The beach is known for strong and consistent winds that make it a popular spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing. This natural feature provides favorable conditions for these water sports year-round.
