Es Portitxol

Es Portitxol is a small cove on Ibiza's northern coast surrounded by Mediterranean forest, featuring a pebbled beach and clear water. The shoreline is compact and naturally enclosed, creating an intimate bathing area that feels separate from the outside world.

The cove served as a natural harbor for fishing boats sheltering from heavy seas since ancient times. It maintained this protective function for centuries, with the landscape and beach remaining largely unchanged through the ages.

The cove has served as a working fishing base for generations, with small boats departing at dawn to work the waters. This daily practice shapes how locals and visitors experience the shoreline and its connection to Ibiza's maritime traditions.

Access is through a forest path from the parking area that takes about 2 kilometers to reach and requires sturdy footwear. Keep in mind that the beach has no facilities or amenities on site when planning your visit.

A natural stone arch cuts through the shoreline, allowing seawater to flow through and creating two separate swimming zones. This geological feature gives the cove a distinctive structure and is a notable landmark when exploring the beach.
