Playa Cabuyal

Playa Cabuyal is a Pacific beach with white sand, clear turquoise waters, and surrounded by tropical dry forest. The shoreline features natural characteristics where forest vegetation meets the water's edge.

The beach has been home to coastal communities since pre-Columbian times, when indigenous groups settled the Guanacaste region and relied on natural resources. The area has maintained its fundamental natural character to the present day.

Fishing families work here using traditional methods with small boats and nets, bringing in their catch during early morning hours. This daily water-based activity shapes the village rhythm and reflects a coastal way of life passed down through generations.

Access is via unpaved roads, so a four-wheel drive vehicle is necessary and you should not expect to find any facilities there. Visitors should bring water, food, and sun protection from home.

A natural estuary where salt and fresh water meet creates a habitat for various migratory bird species. This zone attracts bird watchers who can experience a unique concentration of wildlife in this brackish environment.
