Playa Virador

Playa Virador is a beach in Nacascolo with golden sand and calm waters protected by the Papagayo Peninsula. The bay curves gently, creating a sheltered swimming area that stays relatively still throughout the day.

Indigenous peoples inhabited this coastal area for centuries before Spanish colonizers arrived and shaped the region's development. The peninsula's geography and settlement patterns reflect this long history of different peoples.

The beach serves as a gathering place where local fishers and residents move through their daily routines. You will naturally encounter people who live by the sea and understand its patterns.

The beach is accessed via a path from the parking area on Route 253, which takes about ten minutes on foot. Wear sturdy shoes for the walk and bring water, as the route runs through open terrain.

Capuchin monkeys and coatis roam through the dunes and along the sand regularly throughout the day. These animals are so accustomed to people that you will likely encounter them during your visit.
