Gladiatorek

Gladiatorek is a bronze statue of a small warrior positioned near the Hansel and Gretel houses in central Wrocław. The figure displays details and features of fighter posture rendered in miniature form.

The statue was erected in 2015 and continues the tradition of protest art that began in the 1980s with the Orange Alternative movement against communist rule. This form of artistic expression has become a distinctive feature of the city.

This statue is part of a large collection of bronze dwarves found throughout the city and represents figures from Polish folk tradition. Visitors will notice these sculptures are scattered across different locations in the center and have become part of the everyday urban landscape.

Visitors can find the location using specialized dwarf maps available at the tourist office that show many bronze figures. The spot is centrally located and easy to reach on foot.

During cold months, local residents dress this statue in tiny scarves and hats, which changes its appearance with the seasons. This is a fond local custom that reinterprets the figure.
