Baleausz, Balea i Balejątko, Bronze dwarf statue near Galaktyka Shopping Center in Wrocław, Poland
Baleusz, Balea, and Balejatko are three bronze dwarf figures positioned in front of a dm drugstore on Slezna Street. The family group shows a father, mother, and child in realistic proportions and relaxed poses.
These figures were created in 2022 as part of a broader dwarf collection that began in the 1980s. The tradition started as artistic resistance and gradually became a distinctive feature of the city's public spaces.
The names come from dm drugstore's private label products sold nearby, tying the figures directly to everyday shopping habits. This connection shows how street art traditions and consumer culture blend naturally in the city's daily life.
The figures are located in a busy shopping area easily accessible on foot and clearly visible from the street. This spot works well for photos and is a simple meeting point with enough space to pause and observe.
These dwarfs are the first in Wrocław to be named after a commercial brand, merging retail and art directly into one statement. The project demonstrates how traditional street art can adapt to and embrace contemporary everyday culture.
