Krasnal Giaga

Krasnal Giaga is a bronze dwarf statue located on a street corner in Wrocław, part of a collection of similar figures distributed throughout the city. The work features a small sculpted figure cast in bronze, serving as part of an outdoor public art gallery.

The statue was unveiled in September 2022, continuing a tradition of dwarf figures that began in the 1980s as artistic resistance against communist control. This creative uprising became known as the Orange Alternative movement.

The name draws from Polish folklore, specifically the term krasnoludek, which combines krasny meaning red or handsome with ludek referring to small human-like creatures. This connection to mythology roots the statue in local storytelling traditions.

The statue sits at a street corner in a residential neighborhood and is easy to visit during daylight hours without special planning. Walking through the area is the best way to find it, since it is located in an accessible urban district.

Each of the more than 300 bronze figures scattered across Wrocław has been given its own name and character by local artists and groups. Giaga is just one among many, together forming a broad story of artistic protest and community creativity.
