Tenku no Torii

The Tenku no Torii stands on an elevated position near Lake Kawaguchiko, featuring a red gate that frames Mount Fuji in the background.

Built in 2019 as part of the Kawaguchi Asama Shrine complex, this torii gate represents a modern addition to the traditional Shinto landscape of the region.

Following Shinto traditions, the gate marks the transition between secular and sacred spaces, serving as a point of worship directed toward Mount Fuji.

Visitors can reach the site by taking a bus from Kawaguchiko Station to the Kawaguchiko Post Office stop, followed by a 30-minute walk uphill.

The site requires a fee of 100 yen for smartphone photography, with dedicated staff members managing three-minute time slots for each group of visitors.
