Sankostrada
Sankostrada is a sled run on the slopes of Iwonka mountain in Krynica-Zdrój, where visitors ride downhill in two-person carts along a specially built chute. The total route covers about 1 kilometer, with the main descent stretching roughly 800 meters and dropping 55 meters in elevation.
The sled run was built many years ago and has since become a local tradition in Krynica-Zdrój. Over time, the facility evolved into a popular attraction, with many visitors preserving memories of their first thrilling descent down the mountainside.
Sankostrada serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors share moments of fun and excitement together on the mountainside. The sled run has become part of the town's character, embodying a tradition of outdoor recreation that connects people across ages.
The sled run operates year-round, but closes during rain for safety reasons, so check weather conditions before your visit. Dress warmly, especially during colder months when ice or snow might make the ride even faster and more slippery.
A small zoo with alpacas sits near the sled track, where visitors can watch and sometimes feed these gentle animals. Additionally, the facility offers night rides under lights, transforming the experience into a memorable evening adventure.
