La Clé du Bastion, Escape room in Belfort, France
La Clé du Bastion is an escape room set within Tour 27, a protected fortification tower featuring traditional vaulted ceilings and military architecture from past centuries. The space incorporates the original stone walls and historical details of the tower as the backdrop for its puzzles and challenges.
The tower was built during the reign of Louis XIV in the late 1600s by military architect Vauban as part of defensive fortifications. It originally functioned as a powder magazine and storage facility for weapons and ammunition.
Players encounter stories about local figures like Vauban and Bartholdi while solving puzzles within the actual fortress setting. The place blends entertainment with real historical characters tied to the region.
The facility accommodates groups between three and ten players in different game scenarios. Visitors should wear comfortable clothing and prepare for physical activity, as exploring the rooms requires freedom of movement.
This was France's first escape game located inside a protected historical monument when it opened in October 2015. Being housed within an actual military fortress from the 1600s makes the experience particularly authentic and unusual compared to standard game venues.
