Ax 3 Domaines, Ski resort in Ax-les-Thermes, France
Ax 3 Domaines is a ski resort with three distinct skiing areas - Bonascre, Saquet, and Campels - featuring 80 kilometers of slopes spread across different elevation levels. The terrain includes runs and features suited for various skill levels and preferences.
The resort, originally named Ax-Bonascre, opened in December 1955 near the historic thermal town in the Ariège Pyrenees. Later expansion created the three-domain system to serve more skiers and offer greater terrain variety.
The adjacent town maintains its mountain character with regional restaurants serving traditional Pyrenean dishes like garbure and local cheeses.
A gondola system connects the town to the skiing area for easy access from the base. Regular train services link Toulouse to the resort location, making it accessible for visitors arriving from further away.
The area features natural hot springs with temperatures ranging from 33 to 77 degrees Celsius, allowing visitors to soak in thermal waters after a day on the slopes. This geothermal resource creates an unusual combination of alpine sports and relaxation.
