Hin Ta Hin Yai, Natural rock formations on Lamai Beach, Thailand

Hin Ta Hin Yai consists of two large granite rocks on the southern coastline of Koh Samui, distinctive for their natural sculptural appearance. They are positioned between two beach areas and surrounded by coastal cliffs and shallow waters.

The rocks were discovered by local fishermen in the 1970s and gradually attracted growing visitor numbers. What was once a quiet coastal area became a well-known destination over the following decades.

The rocks carry names rooted in local folklore about a couple whose story became part of the island's identity. Visitors learn from locals about the beliefs and legends connected to this place.

The rocks are easily reachable from the southern beach area and can be explored on foot, especially at low tide when more of the rock surface becomes accessible. Simple pathways and viewpoints allow visitors to move around and take photographs from various angles.

The rock formations developed through natural erosion over long periods, resulting in an unusual resemblance that happened by chance. Many visitors are surprised to learn that these are entirely natural geological structures shaped by time and water.
