Wat Plai Laem

Wat Plai Laem is a Buddhist temple in Bo Phut, featuring an 18-armed Guanyin statue situated on an island within a lake. The site includes multiple worship halls, prayer rooms, and auxiliary structures arranged around the central statue and water.

The temple was completed in 2004, embodying the artistic vision of Thai designer Jarit Phumdonming. The project united contemporary design thinking with traditional Buddhist architectural principles.

The temple shows a blend of Thai and Chinese traditions through statues of Guanyin, Budai, and various Hindu deities. Visitors can observe how these different religious symbols are honored together in shared spaces.

The temple is accessible via Chaweng Choengmon Road and maintains regular hours for visitors. Photography is permitted, and walkways lead to the lake and island where the main statue stands.

The central statue features eighteen arms arranged in a fan pattern, representing the bodhisattva of compassion in Buddhist tradition. This distinctive design makes the figure instantly recognizable across the island.
