Statue de Jacques Chirac, Metal statue in Nice, France.
This 2.2-meter metal sculpture depicts former French President Jacques Chirac in a dynamic pose, created by artist Patrick Frega and positioned at Cours Saleya in Nice's historic center.
The statue was inaugurated on February 8, 2020, in the presence of Claude Chirac, daughter of the former president, to commemorate Jacques Chirac who passed away in September 2019.
The monument serves as a tribute to French political heritage and represents the city's commitment to honoring national figures who shaped contemporary French history and democratic values.
Located at the popular Cours Saleya near the daily markets and flower vendors, the statue is wheelchair accessible and can be easily reached by visitors exploring Nice's old town.
Despite repeated vandalism attempts including severed fingers and graffiti, the statue has been temporarily removed for complete restoration while the municipality maintains video surveillance to protect the artwork.
