The opera building spans 1,800 square meters and contains a theater with 1,083 seats arranged in an Italian-style layout for optimal viewing.
The current structure, designed by architect François Aune with input from Charles Garnier, opened on February 7, 1885 with a performance of Verdi's Aida.
The establishment houses both the Ballet Nice Méditerrannée and Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, presenting regular opera, ballet, and classical music performances.
The main entrance features a rotunda staircase that guides visitors to the performance hall, decorated with a grand crystal chandelier and golden ornaments.
Emmanuel Costa created the main hall's ceiling fresco, depicting mythological themes related to arts and love above the theater space.
