St. Martin Church, Romanesque church in Oliván, Spain.
The church features a semicircular apse with seven blind arches resting on eight pilaster strips, decorated with a frieze of small round moldings and three semicircular windows that illuminate the interior space.
Built around 1060 in Mozarabic-Romanesque style, the church was modified in the 16th century with the addition of a lateral nave and bell tower modifications, representing the architectural evolution of rural religious buildings.
As part of the Serrablo Churches group, this temple exemplifies the cultural fusion between Islamic, Lombard and Romanesque influences that characterized medieval construction in the Alto Gállego region of Aragon.
Located at 893 meters altitude in the municipality of Biescas, the church can be reached via the A-136 highway with clear signage directing visitors to the historic center of Oliván.
The church preserves original geometric pictorial decorations with scroll motifs in the apse interior, a rare survival of medieval artistic expression in rural Aragonese religious architecture.
