Communale, Food court in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, France
Walking into this large industrial space feels like entering an old factory reborn, with high metal beams, natural light streaming through tall windows, and a warm atmosphere where people gather to eat, browse market stalls, or simply relax in a setting that feels both open and welcoming.
The building was originally constructed decades ago to assemble high-speed trains for Alstom, and after years of quiet decline, the old industrial hall was transformed using recycled wood and salvaged materials, preserving its original character while creating a modern gathering place that honors its working past.
The space celebrates food from around the world, with small stands run by local chefs and newcomers who serve Korean fried chicken, Peruvian ceviche, Tunisian couscous, Mexican tacos, and homemade kimbap, creating a friendly market atmosphere where you can discover authentic recipes and meet the people who cook them.
Located on Rue de l'Hippodrome, the food court is open Tuesday through Friday from late morning until midnight, Saturday from morning to early evening, and Sunday from morning to midnight, making it easy to stop by for lunch, an afternoon snack, or a relaxed dinner with friends.
A large yellow crane from the building's industrial days still stands inside, reminding visitors of the space's history, and the whole area is designed to grow into a cultural hub with plans for live concerts, a club, and chef residencies, blending food with art and music.
