Mainarde Molisane
Mainarde Molisane is a nature reserve near Castel San Vincenzo in Italy that spans a large protected area. It features hiking trails, camping spots, bungalows, a lake with a supervised swimming beach, kayaking and paddleboarding, a restaurant, a dog beach area, and picnic zones.
The reserve was established to protect the natural landscapes and plant life of the Mainarde mountains and surrounding areas. The region has roots extending back through centuries of human settlement in the valley of the Volturno river.
The reserve takes its name from the Mainarde mountain range that rises above it. Visitors can see how the landscape shapes daily activities here, from hiking trails to swimming and water sports on the nearby lake.
The site is accessible with free parking, and staff can assist visitors with disabilities to reach the lakeside areas. Campfires are only permitted in designated fire pits, and vehicles cannot drive on grassy areas to protect the landscape.
A section called Bau Camp allows dogs to roam freely and features a dedicated dog beach for swimming. This unusual feature makes it one of the few places where pets can fully participate in outdoor activities alongside their owners.
