Café Louis Philippe, Café in the 4th arrondissement, Paris, France

Café Louis Philippe is a small café in the 4th arrondissement of Paris, a short walk from the Seine. Inside, wooden furniture fills the room, old photographs hang on the walls, and the menu covers coffee, local wines, and simple meals.

The neighborhood around Café Louis Philippe is one of the oldest parts of Paris and has long been a gathering point along the riverbank. The café takes its name from King Louis-Philippe, who ruled France from 1830 to 1848.

Café Louis Philippe sits just steps from the Seine, near the Île Saint-Louis. Sitting outside, you can watch people cross one of the oldest bridges in the area while the river moves quietly below.

The café sits on a corner close to the river and is easy to reach on foot from the Île Saint-Louis or the Hôtel de Ville. A small terrace offers outdoor seating, which makes a visit especially enjoyable in good weather.

The café sits right next to the Quai de l'Hôtel de Ville, one of the oldest riverside roads in Paris, now given over to pedestrians and cyclists. From a seat here, the view across to the opposite bank takes in a stretch of the city that has looked much the same since the Middle Ages.
