Brazil Pavilion, Art museum in Venice, Italy
The Padiglione del Brasile is an exhibition pavilion in the Giardini area of Venice, dedicated to Brazilian art during the Biennale Arte. It houses installations, videos, and objects created by artists from Brazil.
Brazil has been present at the Venice Biennale since its early decades, with a dedicated space in the Giardini. Over time, the pavilion's program shifted to give more room to voices from indigenous communities.
The pavilion shows works by indigenous communities from Brazil, including woven garments, objects, and videos. Each piece carries a story about land, displacement, and the continuation of living traditions.
The pavilion is in the Giardini area, which is easy to reach on foot from the waterfront. Opening hours follow the Biennale calendar, so it is worth checking whether the event is active before planning a visit.
For the 2024 Biennale, the pavilion was for the first time entirely shaped by indigenous artists and curators from Brazil. One of the central objects was a woven mantle from the Tupinambá community, considered a collective voice, whose return from European museums is actively being sought.
