Monument in honor of Johnny Hallyday, Statue in the 12th arrondissement, Paris, France
The Statue Hommage à Johnny Hallyday is a sculpture in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, near the Bercy neighborhood. Created by artist Bertrand Lavier, the work stands about 20 feet (6 meters) tall and features a guitar neck topped with a real Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
The sculpture was unveiled in September 2021 on the Esplanade Johnny-Hallyday, a space the city of Paris had named in his honor in February 2020. Both the naming and the unveiling came in response to the singer's death in December 2017.
The sculpture is titled "Quelque chose de..." referencing one of his best-known songs, something many fans notice right away when they visit. The nearby AccorHotels Arena, where he performed regularly, draws fans to the area who come to share memories of his concerts.
The sculpture stands on the Esplanade Johnny-Hallyday in the 12th arrondissement, reachable by metro line 14 to the Bercy stop, from which it is just a few minutes on foot. It is freely accessible at any time since it sits in a public open space.
The motorcycle perched on top of the guitar neck is not a replica but an actual bike that belonged to Johnny Hallyday from his personal collection. This makes the sculpture something between a monument and a display of his real belongings.
