Accor Arena, Multi-purpose sports venue in Bercy district, Paris, France
Accor Arena is a multi-purpose sports venue in the Bercy district of eastern Paris, France. The facility takes the form of a truncated pyramid with grass-covered exterior slopes and holds up to 19,400 spectators for sporting events and concerts.
The hall opened in February 1984 on the site of former wine cellars and transformed Bercy into a modern entertainment district. Over the following decades, interior spaces and equipment were renewed several times to meet international standards for sports and concerts.
The hall has carried the name of a French hotel group since 2015 and serves as a meeting point for sports fans and concertgoers from across Europe. Many Parisians associate the site with major basketball games and music performances that continue late into the evening.
The hall lies near Bercy Metro station served by lines 6 and 14, with somewhat steep walkways from the entrance to the upper tiers. Inside, visitors find several food outlets, a two-level bar, and a small restaurant with around 130 seats.
Four massive concrete pillars support the metal roof and allow clear sightlines from every angle of the seating tiers without obstructing columns in the viewing area. This construction method was a technical innovation for halls of this size in Europe at the time of opening.
